The site was inspired by decaying efforts to preserve the New Orleans based Chinquapin Records. AncientCrypt first reached 1,000 views on the 16th of June, 2024, and celebrated 50 followers and 20,000 views on the 22nd of January, 2025. On the 10th of March, 2025, AncientCrypt reached 100 followers on Neocities. On the 24th of August, 2025, AncientCrypt hit 100,000 views on NeoCities. AncientCrypt maintained the .tech domain from June 2024 to April 2025.
